WHAT IS LPG?

LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) is the generic name of propane and commercial butane mixture. These are hydrocarbon products produced by the Oil and Gas Industry. Commercial Propane predominantly consists of hydrocarbons containing three carbon atoms, mainly propane (C3H8). Commercial Butane predominantly consists of hydrocarbons containing four carbon atoms, mainly n- and iso - butanes (C4H10).

LPG can be transported, stored, and used virtually anywhere in the world. It does not require a fixed network and will not deteriorate over time. LPG cylinders are the most common and accurate example of LPG’s portability and mobility.

MARKET GROWTH

LPG in Pakistan has experienced significant growth in domestic, commercial, Industrial & Automotive sectors, Local Production increased from approximately 400,000 tons per year in 2004 to approximately 750,000 tons per year in 2019-20 (January-December). Imports for the same years increased to approximately 400,000 Tons in 2019-20.
